Discover Colombia

A Love Affair with Life's Vivid Hues

Imagine waking to the candy-coloured facades of Cartagena's Walled City, where bougainvillea spills over wrought-iron balconies and salsa rhythms pulse through sun-drenched plazas. Venture into Tayrona's emerald jungles to discover pristine beaches guarded by ancient ruins, or sip world-renowned coffee amid Salento's towering wax palms in the Andes' eternal spring. Colombia captivates with its kaleidoscope of cultures — Afro-Caribbean beats in Palenque, indigenous lore at Ciudad Perdida, street art exploding across Medellín's Comuna 13.

Colombia is not the country you read about twenty years ago. It is a nation reborn — safe, generous, electrifyingly creative. From Bogotá's high-altitude sophistication to Guatapé's psychedelic zócalos, this is a love affair with life itself.

From Bogotá's Gold Museum treasures and Monserrate summit views to the coffee farms of the Zona Cafetera and the turquoise waters of the Rosario Islands, Colombia compresses Caribbean, Andean, Pacific, and Amazonian experiences into one unforgettable journey. Safe, affordable, and unforgettably vibrant — Colombia is Latin America's most exciting destination right now.

The Condor Trails Difference

Colombia is where we send travellers who have already fallen in love with Peru and want the next revelation. The warmth of the people, the depth of the culture, and the sheer variety of landscapes remind us why we started Condor Trails — to share Latin America beyond the postcard. Our Colombian partners share our philosophy: small groups, local guides, and experiences you cannot find on any booking platform.

Essential Information

Before You Go

Everything you need to know to travel Colombia with confidence.

Visa & Entry

Visa-free for 90 days for US, UK, Canada, and Australia passport holders. Passport valid for 6+ months. Complete the Check-Mig form online before arrival. Return ticket may be required.

Health

Acclimatise in Bogotá (2,640 m) — hydrate, rest on Day 1. Yellow fever vaccine recommended if visiting Amazon or Pacific regions. Mosquito repellent essential in lowland areas. Travel insurance is a must.

Currency & Money

Colombian Peso (COP) — approximately 4,100 COP = 1 USD. ATMs are widely available in banks. Carry small bills for markets and taxis. Credit cards accepted in cities; cash preferred in smaller towns.

Getting There

Bogotá (BOG) is the main hub with direct flights from London (~11 hrs), Miami (~4 hrs), and New York (~5.5 hrs). Dublin connects via London or US hubs. Domestic flights between cities are affordable and frequent.

Weather

Tropical but varied by altitude. Caribbean coast: 28–32°C. Bogotá: 8–18°C (bring layers). Medellín: 18–28°C (eternal spring). Pack for multiple climates if travelling between regions.

Safety

Much safer than its reputation. Use Uber over street taxis. Avoid displaying expensive items. Stay in tourist areas at night. Guard your phone — snatching is the main risk. Register with your embassy.
